RTW October 28

Good and Faithful

“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!'”
Matthew 25:21

My Takeaways

Something Old

Who have I failed to help? (Matthew  25:45)

Something New

What has been entrusted to me?

  • Am I an investor?
  • Am I a worker?
  • Am I a holder?

A good and faithful servant receives

  • Praise for the Master.
  • More responsibilities from the Master.

Something to Do

Help me to use well what I am given, not for the abundance, but for the Kingdom.

  1. We are supposed to watch for signs of Jesus’ return (Matthew 24:4-8), but Matthew 24:44 says “the Son of Man will come when least expected”….????? Hmmmm….. So we must be prepared. How do I get ready? How do I stay ready? Matthew 25:35-36. Am I helping the least of these? Do I even SEE the least of these?

It’s interesting that the first thing Wendy mentioned is have I been entrusted with a home? I just bought a new home which is super large for me – and I keep asking the Lord what I’m supposed to do with this space – and I do know that I’m supposed to have people here – whether to stay here or just hold home group or bible study, I don’t know – but I feel that I’m supposed to do that . Funny though – Hospitality is NOT one of my gifts LOL. (Prayers appreciated for discernment here) This is where yes, God gives us assignments, etc., according to our abilities, but all our abilities come from HIM – and I believe that sometimes He entrusts more to us than we could handle so we need to rely on Him and HE can get all the glory when we use it well.

Lord – bring me Your sick, Your needy, Your poor – give me eyes to see them and hands to help them.

  2. Wendy, Thank you for breaking this down for us so we can apply it to our own lives. These words of Jesus are getting more and more real to me and more and more personal as the years go by in this bible study. I am taking this to mean that this living Word is doing its work in me; and I am thanking God for that.
