Psalm 105:4

My Takeaways

Something Old

God is not hiding from us.
Search –

  • Search (daw-rash’): to go in search of, to try to find by searching and questioning make frequent
  • Continually (taw-meed) without interruption
  • Seek (baw-kash’ ) seek His face by any method; specifically prayer and worship

You will seek (baw-kash) Me and find Me when you search (daw-rash) for Me with all your heart. (NASB) Jeremiah 29:13

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:6

  • to seek out, search for
  • to seek the favor of God, worship him

Something New

God was testing Joseph’s character when he was sold in slavery. Psalm 105:19

Something to Do

  1. Psalm 105:5 – Remember the wonders he has performed. This Psalm recalls all the miracles of God, His faithfulness and His unfailing love for His people. BUT

Psalm 106:7 – They soon forgot his many acts of kindness to them
Psalm 106:13 – Yet how quickly they forgot what he had done!
Psalm 106:21 – They forgot God, their savior

Even so, God’s people continued to forget Him, reject Him and seek other gods. I do this every single day 🙁

Guzik says: “It dishonors God when we forget His great works, and we will always drift to forgetfulness if we do not actively remember” Oh how true this is of me! I can so easily forget God’s faithfulness and be overwhelmed by fear.

Search for Him EVERYWHERE! People think I’m a little cuckoo because I give glory to God for what SEEM like the most insignificant things. Yesterday, I had an HVAC guy out to fix a broken A/C duct and he just happened to have two parts that he needed (which he didn’t expect to find in his van)…. THIS resulted in praising Him right then and there … He is so good and faithful.

NEW: God sent Joseph to be sold as a slave. While I KNOW that what happened to Joseph wouldn’t have happened outside of the will of God, to read that He sent Joseph blew my mind! I also was struck by Him testing Joseph’s character in this.

105:20 – They traded their glorious God for a statue of a grass-eating bull.
TO DO – Stop trading my glorious God for lesser gods (TV, exercise, food, busy-ness)

    1. Excellent points to ponder Mary! Putting it, God sent Joseph. ??The Lord sends each of us into our situations to reveal Himself to a watching world. What is the “world” those whom I nearest to, see? Do they see faith, trust, love in the Lord in my life???

  2. Sometimes, a good place where God has placed us can become uncomfortable when it’s time to move on. Egypt was a great place for the Israelites because it was a safe place during the time of famine. When it was time for them to leave Egypt, God made it unbearable for them. If He hadn’t, they might have felt too comfortable and refused to leave.

To Do- Be ready to move on when God says it’s time. Trust His timing. Psalm 106:13 (AMP)-“… They didn’t wait patiently for His counseling’s and purpose to be revealed regarding them.”
