The Request That Heaven Hears

Then he said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before the Lord, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come to answer your prayer.
Daniel 10:12

My Takeaways

Something Old

1. What kind of prayer does God incline His ear to hear?

  • One that seeks to understand.
  • One that is humble. (Physical and spiritual)

2.  What happened to my prayer?

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (NIV) Ephesians 6:12

There is a lot going on up there.

Something New

Persistence in prayer is not necessary because God’s reluctance needs to be overcome; rather, it is necessary to train us. ~ David Guzik

Something to Do

Pray so Heaven will hear.

  1. Thank You Wendy for your encouragement!! I look forward to these videos everyday! God always has something for me to help me along the way! Thank you for all the work and effort you put into your studies! They have been so helpful and encouraging to me this year. I have really started to see God use prayer in my life to change me and also to learn to depend more upon Him, especially in the trials of life. Thank you for the daily reminders!!

  2. Thank you for this lesson on prayer. I seek to get more intense with prayer. Thank you for your directions and examples, it makes me understand better. My to do: just pray, even if I don’t always feel that I want to. Just do it. Just get on my knees and ask God. Incorporate prayers throughout my day, when I am walking the dog, when I am doing laundry…. I can talk to God whenever, wherever….

  3. Thanks Wendy for this wonderful lesson about prayer. I love that God always hears my prayer even though He might not answer it right away. I will always keep praying and never stop or give up. Prayer is powerful. I will pray continually like it says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

  4. My Takeaways: Spiritual Warfare

Something Old: Well I finished the book of Daniel today with more complicated prophecies; which are always a heard read for me. But what caught my eye today was Daniel 10:13 “But for 21 days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way Then Michael, one of the archangels came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia.” Spiritual battles are happening everyday. Satan is always out there looking for those he can devour. I am convinced that just as there are good angels, Satan also has a host of his evil angels. Satan has been and still is bent on the perversion and destruction of God’s purposes. I have to be mindful of my enemy and recognize that he exists. I am not untouchable. I must be on the alert and ready to take on the opposition. Knowing that God is in control of my destiny gives me great hope. But nevertheless I must keep a tight grip on what I know to be true and trust in the fact that God places people in positions for a purpose. He placed Daniel just where he needed to be to complete the work he was called to do. God always has me in the right place, at the right time, to carry out His work too. I must be faithful to act and speak on His behalf.

Something New: “So the work on the Temple of God inJerusalem had stopped, and it remained at a standstill until the second year of the reign of King Darius of Persia.”-Ezra 4:24
At the end of yesterday’s reading I read of how the enemies of Judah and Benjamin approached Zerubbabel and the other leaders in an attempt to invade and disrupt the efforts of rebuilding God’s temple. Well looks like it happened today. Again proving the fact that evil spiritual forces are always working against God and his people. But God in his sovereignty sent Haggai to challenge the exiles to put their focus back into rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem. Showing me again that God is in control, even though Satan is at work, attempting to fulfill his promises. Even though I can only see the physical world, I know there is a battle being waged in the spiritual world. But through it all God continues to overrule him and place his people in strategic positions to counter Satan’s advances. God places me in positions for His purposes today. I don’t want to get sidetracked. I want to stay focused on the the things that God has called me to do, so I can receive His blessings in my life and be assured of His promises. I won’t let Satin destroy the assures I have by God; that one day I will live in His Eternal Kingdom forever. My rewards are certain in the life for me that is yet to come.

Something To Do: Stay focused and “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
    – Matthew 6:33
