Lead in Lipstick

The answer about lead in lipstick from my young, smart, non-lipstick wearing friend.

because i did NOT know the answer, i did some research. most of the concern for lead in lipstick comes from an email claiming that it [lead in lipstick] causes cancer… while it is true that lead causes cancer, as well as birth defects in children, the amount of lead concentrated within the person would have to be extremely high (if you are working with lead every day *batteries or old paint* or have been shot with several lead bullets that cannot be removed, you are at risk) 🙂 lipstick may contain trace amounts of lead, but the FDA and other health commissions do not believe these trace amounts of lead are enough to cause cancer. truth be told, everything is rumored to cause cancer… but in this case, i don’t think longer lasting lipsticks (or hair dye *known to contain lead*) are the culprit.

There will be a change in subject soon, I promise.
