Sometimes The Truth Hurts
“You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? That’s what your ancestors did, and so do you!”
Acts 7:51
My Takeaways
Something Old
Even the early church had trouble getting along. (Acts 6:1)
Something New
“He takes the sharp knife of the Word and rips up the sins of the people, laying open the inward parts of their hearts, and the secrets of their soul…He could not have delivered that searching address with greater fearlessness had he been assured that they would thank him for the operation; the fact that his death was certain had no other effect upon him than to make him yet more zealous.” (Spurgeon)
When we resist the power, we:
- Miss seeing God work in our lives.
- Don’t become the person God desires us to be.
- Aren’t able to demonstrate God’s love to others.
- Are powerless over our enemy.
We have two choices:
- Resist the power.
- Relinquish ourselves to the power.
Something to Do
Relinquish myself to the power, and experience God in my life like never before.
