Positioned For God’s Best

As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people going into the Temple.
Acts 3:2

My Takeaways

Something Old

But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give your what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ, the Nazarene, get up and walk!” Acts 3:6

We can’t give what we don’t have.

Something New

  • Who am asking to help me?
    God or man
  • What am I asking for?
Money might have helped him temporarily.

How often do I seek what I think is good for me, and settle rather than waiting on God’s best?

Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all my needs will be met. (Matthew 6:33)

Sometimes we have to wait for the best.

Something to Do

Position myself at the beautiful place…the timely place of God’s Word, and my obedience to it.

  1. “The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus.” Acts 5:41

What do I rejoice in that God counts me worthy of receiving? Oh, I thank Him for determining I am worthy of a good job, a beautiful new home, blessings, etc. I don’t think there is anything wrong with being thankful for these things – I KNOW I don’t deserve any of them but God has blessed me with them. But the apostles rejoiced in their persecution for proclaiming the name of Jesus… it meant they were advancing the Kingdom. This is a whole different level of rejoicing that I want to attain! But in order to do so, I need to be bold in proclaiming Jesus is Lord!!

The Holy Spirit gives boldness to preach the Word, to evangelize, to “suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus” Acts 4:8, 13, 29, 31, 33

Lord, by Your Spirit I ask that you make me bold. Thank you for finding me worthy to suffer disgrace for Your precious and Holy Name.
