What Joy!

Why should I fear when trouble comes, when enemies surround me?
Psalm 49:5

My Takeaways

Something Old

  • There’s no reason to fear.
  • Trouble nor evil people can redeem themselves.
  • What they have trusted in on earth will not save them.
    • Money
    • Wisdom
    • Fame
  • Their “blessings” come while on earth.
  • The grave is their eternal home.

But, as for me, God will redeem my life.

  • Don’t fear.
  • Don’t be dismayed.

What joy for those

  • Who live in your house.
  • Whose strength comes from the LORD.
  • Who have their minds set on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
  • Who trust in the Lord.

They

  • Grow stronger.
  • Will appear before God in Jerusalem (Zion).

Something New

Oh God, help me meditate on Your unfailing love… Psalm 48:9

Something to Do

Live to experience what joy!!!

  1. Wendy, my aha moment was also Psalm 49:15 – this psalmist realizes God’s redemption even before the gift of Jesus!

I love the “joy verses” in Psalm 84 and especially realizing that Heaven is our new Jerusalem!
