How Not To Live Like A Fool

So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.
Ephesians 5:15

My Takeaways

Something Old

I just LOVE the Word of God. I can hardly contain it.

Something New

  • Make the most of every opportunity
  • Understand what the Lord wants you to do
  • Being drunk can ruin your life (opposite of being filled with the Spirit.)
  • Make music to the Lord in your heart (songs, hymns, spiritual songs—praises.)
  • Give thanks.

Something to Do

Live wise.

  1. So much great stuff in today’s reading! I agree with Wendy…I love God’s Word!

Col 1:21-23 made my heart explode today! I was Gods enemy but was brought near to God through Christ and I can stand boldly before God knowing he sees only Christ and not a single one of my faults…WOW!! Praise the Lord o my soul!! I must stand firm in this true and not drift away from it.

  2. My Takeaways: Be Prepared

Something Old: The Whole Armor of God, very familiar passage (Ephesians 6:10-20). But a good reminded for me today of the reality of the spiritual warfare that surrounds me daily.

Something New: I can’t let the enemy fill my head with lies. Remember what he said to Eve in the garden. He’s still playing those same games. Satan gets a thrill from accusing me of all my unrighteous deeds. He loves to invent many distractions and discouragements to bring me down. The Devil wants me to doubt God’s existence, His goodness, His plan, and His provision. I have to hold on to the fredom I have through my salvation. Satan will never stop tempting me in every way possible. He is going to do what it takes to keep me inactive or ineffective. I have to cling onto the words of God, because Satin fears that. I must listen to the voice and wisdom of God.

Something To Do: Pray that I can stay strong and always wear the whole armor of God so I don’t succumb to the evil ways of the unseen world.

  3. Wendy, I’m so glad that you addressed discernment and doing the will of God. Sometimes even though I’m reading/studying the Word and listening to the Holy Spirit, I’m unsure if my discernment and then my resulting actions are correct. I wonder am I on the right track? It makes me feel better to hear you say that if we are in the Word and our hearts are in the right place, then God can use us even if we make mistakes along the way.

I also love Colossians 1:22. “…He has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.” WOW. I’m a hot mess, yet God sees me without a single fault. That brings tears to my eyes. This is certainly the gift of grace and salvation. I am so humbled and so grateful.
