“Year after year it was the same.” 1 Samuel 1:7
- Hannah lived in the shadow of what she thought “ought to be.”
- Hannah lived under weight of taunts and teases of another.
- Hannah lived under power of someone else’s interpretation of her life.
Where should we rest?
“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety he is my God, and I trust him.” Psalm 91:1-2 NLT
What weight should we carry?
“Come to me and I will give you rest—all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke. Wear my yoke—for it fits perfectly—and let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls; for I give you only light burdens.” Matthew 11:28
Who should I allow to define me?
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Ephesians 2:10 NLT
Something to Think About
In what or in whom do I rest?
What unnecessary weight am I carrying?
Whose definition of me am I living under?
