RTW July 27

Girls, pull out your earbuds for the next few days. I forgot to use the mic when I recorded. I am so sorry.

Fast Right

“It’s because you are fasting to please yourselves.”
Isaiah 58:3b

My Takeaways

Something Old

God’s Word will accomplish all He wants it to accomplish.

Something New

The purpose of fasting is to get to know God, not to get something from God.

  • Not to look good to ourselves
  • Not to look good to others
  • Not to look good to God

Something to Do

Fast right, and experience God and everything He has for me.

  1. My Takeaways: More Prophecies

Something Old: Isaiah 58: Sounds a lot like America today. We are suppose to be a Christian nation. I’m confused, If America lived conscientiously by the Word of God, sought to glorify the Lord Jesus, living to be salt and light in our society, and holding up the Gospel as the answer to our troubles, then this chapter wouldn’t make me think I was reading about America. It appears to me that our nation has turned their backs on God. We are a nation who are Christian in name only-false worshipers-as described in Isaiah 58. Many Americans pay lip service to our God. Living for themselves. Going through the motions of religion but neglecting their relationship with the Lord. Our nations sins are piled up before Him. What else can He do but allow the consequences of our countries ac- tions. If we desire a nation without Him, then our country will have to endure the hell that is to come. God doesn’t want Americans to act “religious” when they have unforgiven sin in their heart and continue their sinful lifestyle. He wants them to have genuine compassion.

Something New: Isaiah 59:21 This really hit my heart today. “And this is my Covenant with them, says the Lord. My spirit will not leave them, and neither will these words I have given you. They will be on your lips and on the lips of your children and your children’s children forever. I, the Lord, have spoken!” This prophecy has been filfulled in me and all Christians. What a gift! Just think the Holy Spirit, comforter and counselor dwells in me. He has changed me. I no longer want to live in my sinful nature. I live to please my Savior. Me and all my ancestors and offspring are heirs to this wonderful prophecy. God’s personal presence lives in me. God’s power in action, his active force. God is good!
