The Life After Adultery

They have played the prostitute, serving other gods and deserting their God.
Hosea 4:12c

My Takeaways

Something Old

What is my reputation testifying about me? (Hosea 5:5)

Something New

Our Lord loves the unfaithful!

He initiates our reconciliation.

  • He will win us back, even if He has to lead us to the desert to do it. (Hosea 2:14)
  • The desert is quiet so we can hear his whispers. (Hosea 2:14)

He will transform our “Valley of Trouble” into a “Gateway of Hope.” (Hosea 2:15) His Power

  • Erase our idolatry from our lips. (Hosea 2:17)
  • Protect us. (Hosea 2:18b) live unafraid in peace and safety
  • Show us righteousness, justice, unfailing love, and compassion forever (Hosea 2:19)

Something to Do

Chase God. There is Hope and there is Life in God. Chase God.

  1. My Takeaways: Wayward Wife/ Wayward People

Something Old: I love how God uses Hosea’s act of mercy toward his wife to show us His merciful and unfailing love. What a beautiful comparison. A true protrait of Jesus Christ is present in chapter 3 . Hosea brought back his wife despite her adultery, just like God, through his son Jesus, recognized my dilemma and lovingly paid the cost of my freedom with his blood.

Something New: So much is going on in today’s reading, but what got my attention today was chapter 5- The Failure of Israel Leaders. The Leaders should have been encouragers, someone that people could look up to for guidance. That wasn’t happening in Israel. The leaders, especially the priests, seemed to have been encouraging the people to sin. I couldn’t help but be convicted about my leadership of others while reading this. Am I leading people towards the Lord, allowing them to be faithful or am I responsible in their falling away from Him? I have influence over my family, friends, and the people that cross my path. By being an influence on others makes me a leader to others. Remember what Jesus said in Luke 6:40. “A student is not above His teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.” I hope my leadership is training up others in the way that God would want them to go.

Something To Do: Become a godly influence to those around me.

    1. I’m a bit behind on my reading and just now catching up. Lkennedy, I love reading your comments and I want you to know you are a godly influence on me. I don’t know you. I don’t know where you live. However I clearly see your beautiful spirit and your intention to follow Christ. So you are actively engaged in your “to do. “. Thank you for faithfully sharing.

  2. Yes I am behind trying to catch up. I am thankful to you also for your faithful comments.

Some day my life may calm down enough that I can post but for now I am glad to have yours to read.
