Truth Tuesday

Journal: What truth is God teaching you through Psalm 72?

I love verse 6! “He will be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering in the earth.” He will send refreshment when I need it.

Here is the song I mention in today’s questions.

Word Study Wednesday

The mountains will bring prosperity to the people the hills the fruit of righteousness.” Psalm 72:3

This verse fascinates me. It demonstrates the complete transformation the coming King would make in Israel.

Let’s look briefly at Psalm 121:1, “I lift up my eyes to the mountains where does my help come from?” Here’s the scene: the psalmist facing adversity, looks up to God and sees pagan worship, the sacrificing of children, and various forms of sorcery. The mountains were a source of the wrong kind of help. Looking beyond the mountains, the psalmist cries, “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

When the coming King rules, there will no longer be false gods and false worship in the mountains. The new King will produce prosperity in the mountains. This prosperity is not wealth and material goods  yielded from the mountain’s resources. This prosperity is peace. Nothing but peace. The Hebrew transliteration for the word prosperity is shalom (shaw-lome’) which means peace, completeness, welfare, and soundness.

I love the way God’s Word works together! It’s like a huge puzzle or a connect-the-dot.

Thank you God for leaving this wonderful Word for us.

Thankful Thursday

Journal: Tell God something that you are thankful for.

I stand amazed at the work of the Holy Spirit. I got to be part of the encouraging work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a friend 100s of miles away. Simply following the prompting of the Spirit work gives us a glimpse of God. The glimpse is overwhelming!
