TGFABT – Psalm 73

It is Good to be Near God

“When I tried to understand all this it was oppressive to me.”
Psalm 73:16

Overcoming the Oppression of Envy, Grief, and Bitterness:

  • Go to God.
  • Do the things of God.
  • Spend time with the people of God.

His sanctuary, His ways, and His people are our source of freedom from such oppression.

Truth Tuesday

Journal: What truth is God teaching you through Psalm 72?

Being in His sanctuary is where I can worship and gain understanding.

Word Study Wednesday

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Psalm 73:26

This verse has always been one of my favorites. It sounds like poetry, don’t you think? I want to unpack two words: strength and portion.

Strength
Tsur – (tsoor)
mighty God, rock, sharp, stone, strength, strong

Heart
Lebab – (lay-bawb’)
inner man, mind, will, heart

Portion
Cheleq – (khay’lek)
inheritance, part, partake, portion

My flesh and my heart [inner man, mind, will, heart] may fail, but God is the strengthen [mighty God, rock, sharp, stone, strong] of my heart [inner man, mind, will, heart] and my portion [inheritance, part, partake, portion] forever.

He is our inheritance forever. No matter what else, He is our inheritance.
