A Revival in My Relationship

I remember years ago my home church would have revivals. A guest pastor would come speak at our church for several days. The purpose was to get us fired-up about our relationship with the Lord.

Recently I began praying for a revival, a personal revival. I imagine myself sitting in a circle and pray,  “Lord, start a revival in the heart of the person in this circle.” Lightening did not strike from Heaven nor did claps of thunder fill the air. But I feel different and I am committed to praying this prayer until I get fired-up and stay fired-up about Kingdom work and my Kingdom calling.

Yesterday I saw this prayer by Rick Warren on Facebook. I have decided to borrow it and pray it in addition to my “revival prayer.” I thought you would like it also.

Dear God,

I want you to use me. Anytime. Anywhere. Anyway. Anyhow.

Use me by your grace. Fill me with your Spirit. Give me your vision for my life.

Protect me from these traps. I want to live a life of integrity. I want to live a life of humility. I want to live a life of generosity. But most of all, I want to learn to trust you completely.

I want to have a radical faith. I want to expect great things from you and attempt great things for you, for the global glory of God. Give me your dream for my life.

Help me to be willing to risk failure and to not be afraid of it. Help me to trust in your grace. I want to expect you to use me, and I want to ask you to help me to never give up.

So I surrender myself to you, that a revival and a resurgence would happen in my heart.

How bad to you need/want a revival in your relationship? Enough to pray everyday until it happens?
