From Ready to Drop to Restored

Day 57

And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast.  To Him be the power for ever and ever. Amen
1 Peter 5:10-11

This it is hard for God’s girls, isn’t it?  We are doers, achievers, maximizers, and multi-taskers.  We wear ourselves out, see our need for restoration then seek worldly ways to restore ourselves. The last thing that comes to mind is being still. For me, I think of a pedicure, a new outfit, lunch with friends, or sending the kids out with friends while I stay at home for a good Hallmark crying chick-flick.

As I look at today’s verses I see why my thinking is flawed. My glory is not important. My plans are not paramount. I am not called to “my glory” but His.  When glory is in question, complete restoration will not occur.  We will continue to spin our wheels and wearing ourselves out. Any restoration I offer myself is temporary and will fade. The restoration the Creator offers will make me strong, firm, and steadfast.  Steadfast. Doesn’t that sound appealing?

Check out the meaning of steadfast: fixed intensity or direction, steady, unwavering in purpose. Allowing God to restore us is the only way we will truly be prepared for what lies ahead. We will be renewed in direction and purpose for His glory and our good.

The next time we are done, over achieved, maximized out, and can’t complete even one task, let’ be challenged by this verse,  to let the Restorer do His job. He is Restorer. I am not. Let it be.

  1. Praise God!! I so needed to hear this as I just on Thursday of last week was feeling pressed at my limit and ready to throw in the towel and just say I quit. I did the manicure, I did the down time; out with friends but by Saturday evening I was right back at the same place again. Help me God to remember to turn to you for ALL things and to bask in the comfort of your love and your mercies that are fresh and new every day.
