The Prophecy Provides

The Lord laid a specific message on my heart for my event in Palatka. I don’t think He or the women of First Baptist Palatka would mind if I shared it with you.

It seems that we fail to make a connection between the birth of Christ and our every day life. We celebrate the birth. We marvel at the ministry Jesus had while on the earth. Our hearts were broken when He was beaten and crucified for our sin but oh how we celebrate the resurrection and ascension to the right hand of His Father. But what about the manager? What does the manger have to do with our every day life? Not that salvation was not enough mind you. John 10:10 tells us that He came to give us life abundant, complete and full so we know His intent for us was more than salvation. I believe God was telling us through the prophet Isaiah what we can expect from the birth of Jesus in our every day life.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

I love to read those names. Why don’t you say them out loud right now? Can you stand it? I can’t! God was giving us a preview at what was coming. He was telling us that wrapped in those ragged and dirty barn cloths He would provide everything we needed to have an eternal and abundant life. It all started when:

For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Isn’t that amazing? I will be discussing the beautiful names God gave His Son in days to come. In the meantime, think about this two scriptures and what they mean to you.
