Growing The Kingdom

all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.
Acts 2:47

My Takeaways

Something Old

Oh, how thankful I am that Jesus went to Heaven. His ascension meant the life-changing gift of the Holy Spirit would come and live in me to make me more like God.

I can hardly take it in.

Without Jesus’ sacrifice, eternal life wouldn’t be possible.

Without Jesus’ ascension, the Holy Spirit wouldn’t be available to me.

Something New

What if believers

  • Met together?
  • Shared everything?
  • Sold their possessions to help those in need?
  • Worshiped together (I don’t necessarily mean church) each day?
  • Shared in the Lord’s supper?
  • Shared meals in joy and generosity?
  • All the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people?

And the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved. (Acts 2:47)

The lost would be SAVED!

Something to Do

Be the Acts 2 church.

  1. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses…” Acts 1:8 The Holy Spirit empowered the apostles, and the same Holy Spirit gives me the power to be a witness. Without Him, I have not witness.

Criteria to be an apostle: be one of the “men who were with us the entire time we were traveling with the Lord Jesus – from the time he was baptized by John until the day he was taken from us. Whoever is chosen will join us as a witness of Jesus’ resurrection” Acts 1:21-22 So there can’t be any “apostles” in the church today as many are representing themselves

I agree with Wendy on the state of many churches – too many are trying to be “relevant” so they can draw more people in, having “altar calls” for people to give their hearts to Jesus – but many are never truly saved. The Bible as it is written is relevant through the ages… Sola Scriptura!
