Something from the archive… Praise has been in my heart especially these last few days!

Praise HIM

My Takeaways

Praise Him

  • Praise Him that His law is being written on my heart. Oh that I would instinctively obey God’s Word and demonstrate that it is written in my heart.
Even the Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know His law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right.  Romans 2:14-15

  • Praise Him that His Spirit is circumcising my heart. Oh, that I may seek only God’s praise.
And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of the heart produced by God’s Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people.  Romans 2:29b

  • Praise God I am an “everyone who believes.” He made the way for us all!
But now God has shown us a way to be made right with Him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who are.   Romans 3:21-22

  • Praise God my “rightness” with God is not based on my obedience. I would certainly remain “wrong” with God all the time.
Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith. So we are made right with God through faith, and not be obeying the law.  Romans 3:27-28

  • Praise God I don’t have to work for my righteousness. I am made righteous through my faith in my God.
But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners. Romans 4:5

  1. Romans 2:4 has always been a favorite verse of mine. I love the descriptive words about God here…wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient with me. It is the kindness of God of…not judgement or condemnation that leads to repentance ( turning from sin). If this kindnes is what God uses to draw me to Him why do I so quickly think that judging of condemning others will lead them to turn from sin and turn to God? I can be quick to have a condemning tone toward my children when they do wrong. I saw today in this verse that that gone is wrong. The kindness and patience I show to them when they disobey will do more to lead them back to the right path than any condemnation or lecture. So thankful for how God uses familiar scriptures to communicate a fresh, needful truth!!’

  2. My Take Aways: Rejoicing in Him

Something Old: I love reading Paul’s writings. They are so convicting and true. What I read today assures me that salvation comes through faith in Christ rather than by obedience to the Law. Many verses in today’s reading bring out so much. Very hard to decide on which one to focus on today.

Something New: Romans 3:24 “Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty of our sins.” This is some important stuff that Paul writes about here. I am freely justified by His grace through Christ redemption. Justified.  That’s an important word to understand!  It describes what happens when I believe in Jesus as my Savior.  God declares me not be guilty and credits righteousness to me.  Jesus’ righteousness is credited to me as my own. I get to receive this as a gift, for free! God’s grace, allowed it, through the redemptive act of Jesus on the Cross. He paid the price for my sins and redeemed me through faith.  This is amazing stuff and something extremely important to understand. I am so excited to have been given everlasting justification through faith in my Lord Jesus.

Something To Do: Praise Him because I realize that I am a sinner and have fallen short of the glory of God. Praise Him for allowing me to put my faith in Jesus who took the punishment for my sins on the Cross. Praise Him that I have come to repentence for my sins and am born again through a saving faith in Jesus.
