A Way of Life

But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.
1 Corinthians 12:31b

My Takeaways

Something Old

Love is greater than any gift.

Something New

Campbell Morgan wrote that examining this chapter is like dissecting a flower to understand it. If you tear it apart too much, you lose the beauty. Alan Redpath said one could get a spiritual suntan from the warmth of this chapter.

Affection, good-will, love, benevolence the active love his people are to have for God, each other, and even enemies

Love is

  • Patient and kind

Love isn’t

  • Boastful or proud,
  • Rude,
  • Selfish, irritable, or keeping in business of keep wrongs,
  • Happy about injustice,

Love

  • Rejoices when truth wins.
  • Never gives up, loses faith, always has hope, and endures in every circumstance.
  • Always has hope.

Love is a way of life.

Something to Do

Love.

  1. I fail at this way of life – a life of love – every single day. Every single second of every single day. What a convicting lesson, Wendy. Thank you.

  2. A priest once had us insert the name “God” in Corinthians 13, and then our own name.
So read it through once with “God” and then once with “your name.”

    Ex:
God is patient and kind. God is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude…”

Jennifer does not demand her own way. Jennifer is not irritable, and keeps no record of being wronged..
