RTW November 13

Twisted Truth

I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News.
Galatians 1:6

My Takeaways

Something Old

  • Pretend: to appear falsely, as to deceive
  • Deceive: to mislead or falsely persuade others

A pretender deliberately twists the truth

“Note the resourcefulness of the devil. Heretics do not advertise their errors. Murderers, adulterers, thieves disguise themselves. So the devil masquerades all these devices and activities. He puts on white to make himself look like an angel of light.” (Martin Luther)

Praise the Lord, Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (NIV)  Galatians 5:1.

Who are my pretenders?

Something New

Am I discipling anyone? Am I allowing anyone to disciple me? (Acts 14:23)

Something to Do

Know the truth, and be aware of the twisted truths.

  1. That Luther quote is so good! We have wolves among the sheep even in – especially in – the church today. I have experienced the twisted truth in church first hand. The devil is, sadly, actively luring Christians away from the truth of the Gospel with a pretend gospel. A prosperity gospel. he comes with pretty worship music, messages preached that tickle ears and don’t include conviction of sin, etc. It breaks my heart that so many are deceived today by this false gospel ….

I am dead to the law and alive in Christ. The law does not have the power to save or give life – Jesus Christ DOES!
