A Chat About Healing
“… Your faith has made you well.”
Matthew 9:22a
My Takeaways
Something Old
“Your faith has made you well.”
Greek word zoso: which means “to preserve, rescue, save from death, or keep alive.” Sometimes, sozo refers to spiritual salvation, which is also linked to a person’s faith.
Mentioned other times in the Bible, sometimes it’s in reference to spiritual healing, other times physical healing.
- The woman with issue, sought healing, had heard of Jesus, made her way to Him and was healed.
- The man by the pool, sought help, he had faith in the pool, not Jesus, but Jesus healed him.
- The man born blind, didn’t seek healing, didn’t know of Jesus, his faith wasn’t mentioned, but Jesus healed him.
Why did her faith make her well, and mine did not?
- Healing doesn’t come from the one who holds the faith, but in the One in whom the faith placed.
- I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. (ESV) 1 John 5:13-15
- Healing comes when my faith intersects with God’s will and His timing. The only thing we have control over is our faith.
Something New
Mark 5:13
Even evil obeys the LORD. He’s in charge of everything. Everything!!!
Something to Do
Pray for God’s will, and trust whatever that is.
Wendy, this is a powerful lesson for me. I have been a caregiver for many years, and have questioned God over and over!! He led me to a song by the Whisnants, from right there in NC. The song is titled A Greater Yes. The chorus goes like this:
You never pray a prayer your Father will not answer,
He can’t ignore His child’s earnest request.
While you’re waiting and believing for what you thought was best,
Trust God if He says no, you’re still blest.
There must be a greater yes!
I hope this song will give you comfort and encouragement as you continue to follow Him on your journey, it has for me.
Beautiful words. Thank you, @jdfreeman!
