The One Made Whole
As he entered a village there, ten men with leprosy stood at a distance, crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
Luke 17:12-13
My Takeaways
Something Old
- They were cleansed as they obeyed. WOW!
- It’s the one who returned to thank God that was made whole.
- You can be clean and not whole.
Cleanse: to make ceremonially clean; cleanse by curing
Whole: to save suffering one from perishing; spiritual healing; rescuing believers from the penalty and power of sin – and into His provisions (safety).
- They all prayed, only one praised.
“External religious exercises are easy enough, and common enough; but the internal matter, the drawing out of the heart in thankful love, how scarce a thing it is! Nine obey ritual, where only one praises the Lord.” (Spurgeon)
We’ve all been the one, and we’ve all been the nine.
- We’ve begged to be cleansed, but rejected spiritual healing.
- We’ve been cleansed, but neglected to say, “Thank you.”
What if our blessings for today were based on our thankfulness of yesterday?
Something New
I wonder if the 10th man ever went before the priest.
Something to Do
Be the one. I was once a begging leper.
