The Other Side Of Exile
This is what the Lord says: “You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again.
Jeremiah 29:10
My Takeaways
Something Old
Jeremiah 31:9-10 and Jeremiah 31:12-14 paint a beautiful picture! I wonder if heaven will be like this.
Something New
Not matter what circumstances brought us to our place of exile we can will:
- Learn new things about God only a season of exile could teach
- Leave spiritually stronger than when we arrived
- Long for God like never before
Something to Do
Make the most of every aspect of my adventure with God.
New: God was WITH the exiles in Babylon. 29:12-14: “In those days, when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you.” Exile did not mean the Lord deserted the people.
I’m struggling with my own exile now – I am alone, without true community – partly due to others actions, but much of it to do with my own pushing others away. “I’m here, LORD, what do you want to teach me? Asking this question this morning, the Lord is revealing to me … Thank you, Wendy.
Wendy,
How beautiful of a lesson on exile.
I’ve gone through that very thing about two years ago.
Praise God. I’ve gotten through it and yes, I know God
in a more meaningful way…..Praise His Name!!
I’m stronger now and I give God all the glory
for getting me through that “tough” time, as He
walked with me through it all!!! His word says, “I will never leave
you or forsake you!!
