The Creation And The Creator

But the jar he was making did not turn out as he hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over.
Jeremiah 18:4

My Takeaways

Something Old

The Recabites were a faithful people. How I long for God to look upon my family and say, “The faithful Popes.”  (Jeremiah 35:1-19)

Something New

The potter starts over because the creation isn’t turning out as he hoped.

The potter wouldn’t bother starting over if he didn’t

  • Care about his creation.
  • Believe in its potential.

The creation has to be smashed, stretched, shaped, and heated before it can fulfill its potential and purpose. Only the Creator knows that purpose and sees that potential.

Starting over is often

  • Necessary
  • Painful

But it always

  • Purposeful

Something to Do

Rest peacefully in the Potter’s perfect hand and His timing to become all that He has planned for me.

  1. Love the song! Jeremiah 17:7-8 has some great imagery! “”But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit.” Sound familiar? Psalm 1:1-3. I always want God to be my hope and confidence. I want to be that tree planted along a riverbank with roots that reach deep into the water. I want my roots to be the deepest roots in God’s living water every day.
