Something to Do
Read this list and praise Him… the God of all this.
I love this lesson and your assignment for us, Wendy! He is worthy of my praise in all things.
What stood out to me today is the word “forever”. Psalm 136: His faithful love endures forever; 146:6(b) He keeps every promise forever; 146:10 The LORD will reign forever; 148:5/6 His creation skies, sun, moon, etc) is set in place forever and “His decree will never be revoked”. Our God is a FOREVER GOD! He’s not going anywhere – nothing can separate us from Him. He is worthy of my praise – yes, for what He has done, is doing and will do – but especially for Who He is.
150:6 – Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD!
“The one condition of praise is the possession of breath, that is to say, life received from Him must return in praise to Him” (Morgan)
Oh that my every breath will praise Him today – “For his name is very great; his glory towers over the earth and heaven” 148:13
Love this Mary- our God is a forever God ?
I have not spent enough time praising God lately. I rush around with daily activities of work and home life and don’t take the time I should to praise God. I think praising Him also serves to strengthen my faith because I am remembering who He is. What stood out to me today was Psalm 147:10-11 and how it says God delights in us when we revere Him and hope in His unfailing love. It got me thinking about whether or not I am hoping in His unfailing love and how I can demonstrate that I am placing my hope in His love- trust His promises, believe He is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do, obey Him…
I keep thinking of a song we sang at our church when growing up. It went something like this:
“How beautiful….on the mountaintops…are the lips of those….who sing His praise…”
So in doing my “homework” I pulled out my Worship playlist and the one that popped up was Michael W. Smith’s “You Are Holy.” I could sing that all day (and probably will now!)
“You are holy. You are mighty. You are worthy. Worthy of praise. I will follow. I will listen. I will love you. All of my days.
I will sing to and worship the king who is worthy and I will love and adore him and I will bow down before him. You’re my Prince of Peace, and I will live my life for you!”
Wow.
