Intimacy With God

  1. Give God time. Get to know God intimately, and let Him have the intimate places of you.
  2. Give God praise and bless His name. Don’t just be a taker.
  3. Give God a complete commitment: mind, body, soul, and spirit.

Something New

Charles Spurgeon preached 59 sermons on the book of Song of Songs.

  1. Intimacy with God – oh such a struggle for me. But oh, how He deserves my complete commitment and trust.

The verses that stood out to me tie in with Wendy’s lesson perfectly (for me): 2:7; 3:5 & 8:4 – “Promise me, O women of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and wild deer, not to awaken love until the time is right”. My heart’s desire has always been to be married – and here I am at 54 years old not married, never married, nothing and nobody on the horizon (3:1b & 2c). Watching everyone else find this happiness throughout my life and being “passed over” … But in my heart of hearts I KNOW (and God certainly knows) that I’m not in a place that I could grow or sustain a marriage. It needs to begin with trusting God. Growing in intimacy with Him. If I can’t trust God, how could I trust a mere human? So I’m working on this with Him (or He’s working on this with me). I want Him to show me what marriage looks like.

    1. Mary that’s the same verse that stood out to me today. My thought here is that the Young Woman from Song of Solomon is absolutely right. If we are single, we need to remember that everything is in God’s hands. If God has a plan for us to get married, then we really don’t need to stress about the timing of it all. It will happen when it should happen. When the time is right. And to try to awaken love before the time is right typically does not work out well. Mary I feel for you and understand your sadness. Try not to stress out about it! God’s timing and God’s plans for your life are indeed a mystery – but a beautiful mystery. He will awaken love when – and if – the time is right. I will keep you up in prayer because I can’t imagine being in your shoes. Hang in there and you are so right when you say “in my heart of hearts I KNOW….”
