In My Distress…

Even during this time of trouble, King Ahaz continues to reject the LORD.
2 Chronicles 28:22

My Takeaways

Something Old

Finally, a king in Judah without a “but”, “yet”, or “however” following His name.

Something New

How do I respond in times of trouble?

Do I reach out to those who don’t follow the Lord?

What rash decisions do I make? (close the door of the Temple, sell the pieces of the Temple.)

In Distress:

  • But in my distress, I cried out to the LORD; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears.  Psalm 18:6
  • Do not let your hearts be troubled.  Trust in God, trust also in me.  John 14:1
  • Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (NIV)  1 Peter 5:6-7
  • Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.  Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits – who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. (NIV)  Psalm 103:1-5
  • Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and and he will establish your plans. (NIV) Proverbs 16:3

  1. Thank you for your well wishes Wendy.
I hope you enjoy this day!
Lord willing, a trouble free day.

  2. -Trust in the Lord. He is my strength and my song.
-Praise the Lord because He has done wonderful things. Share this with others. Ask God to help me see opportunities to do this.
    -Trust AND obey.
-As Hezekiah did, remain faithful to the Lord in everything—not in my own strength but in His strength. Continue to seek His guidance in this.

  3. I listen to Joel Osteen’s messages on Sirius XM, and he has hundreds. It seems like whatever lesson you are covering, I seem to land on the exact message of his covering the same subject–which should be random but I believe God is planning that too!
