Grace That Never Ends

Then Jehoahaz prayed for the LORD’s help and LORD heard his prayer…
2 Kings 13:4a

My Takeaways

Something Old

The phrase “led Israel to commit” is written 18 times reflecting the influence of Jeroboam

He [Jehoash] refused to turn from the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had led Israel to commit. 2 Kings 13:11b (emphasis mine)

How am I using my influence?

Something New

He

  • Hears and answers our prayers. (2 Kings 13:4)
  • Sees our suffering, even when the suffering comes from His own hand as discipline. (2 Kings 13:4)
  • Provides our rescue. (2 Kings 13:5)
  • Keeps us safe. (2 Kings 13:5)

How do I respond to God’s rescue?

But they continued to sin... 2 Kings 13:6

Something to Do

Respond to God’s grace with gratitude and complete repentance.

  1. My thoughts and takeaway were very similar to Wendy’s today—

Thank God for His grace and mercy. He hears and answers prayers even when His people have been disobedient.

Also, the Lord is in control of the events in our world. He allowed the King of Aram to defeat Israel repeatedly. The Arameans attacked with only a small army but the LORD helped them conquer the much larger army of Judah.
