The Place For Understanding
So, I tried to understand…
Psalm 73:16a
My Takeaways
Something Old
Asaph knew where to go for understanding. To gain insight; discernment; understanding.
I’m guilty of going to God for answers and resolution, not understanding. Oh, what a lesson this is for me!
- Asaph went to the House of the Lord.
- Asaph was overwrought with conviction because of his wrong thinking.
Psalm 73:21-22
The Lord’s presence sure has a way of changing our perspective.
Something New
Asaph was in the lineage of Levi. He wrote eleven Psalms: 50 and 73-83.
Something to Do
Get alone with God before I let my mouth move and my actions take over.
-Something Old: The verses from Psalm 50 about God owning the cattle on a thousand hills. I was familiar with that portion but was not familiar with the rest that goes with it. It says all the animals of the forest are mine, I know every bird on the mountains and all the field animals are mine.
Something New: Both day and night belong to you, you made the starlight and the sun. You set the boundaries of the earth, and you made both summer and winter. (Ps 74:16-17)
Something To Do:
-Psalm 50 notes says to make thankfulness your sacrifice to God and that giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors God. Spend some time thanking God today.
-Avoid envy and comparison. (From Ps 73)
-“I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.” (Ps 73:28) Ask God to show me who I might tell today or in the next few days and to give me the boldness to do so.
I like that To Do-show me who I might tell today or in the next few days and to give me the boldness to do so.
