Reach To Reconcile

All of us must die eventually. Our lives are like water spilled out on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again. But God does not just sweep life away; instead, he devises ways to bring us back when we have been separated from him.
2 Samuel 14:14

My Takeaway

Something Old

You don’t want you, or your son, to pass away with things unsettled. You can’t pick up water spilled on the ground, my lord and you can’t reconcile with someone when they are gone.

Life can pass us by while we are still making the decision to reconcile with the one who hurt us

  • As believer, it is our responsibility to reach to reconcile.
  • Initiate reconciliation, even if you don’t think it will be received.
  • Christ is our example for reconciliation.
  • Reaching to reconcile or reconciling with the one who reaches to us isn’t easy, but it is the right thing to do.

Something New

“Meanwhile” I love that something is always happening. (2 Samuel 12:26)

Something to Do

Reach when the hand reaches for me.

  1. Once again, such a timely lesson, Wendy. Thank you! I have been at odds with a co-worker (well, honestly, she’s been at odds with me as I shared my conviction with her not to gossip or talk about others – she was convicted (unknowingly) and has ceased communicating with me). We used to take daily walks and communicate regularly. But she cut me off, accused me of things that I did not do, etc. So my reaction was “good riddance”. But lately (even just this morning upon awakening!!), I felt like I was supposed to reach out to her and try one more time to set things right. And then your lesson, Wendy!

Also – just want to share a testimony of how God works EVERYTHING for good and brings reconciliation. I had an awful relationship with my two sisters. I mean – awful. We fought, I was deceitful, they were mean, I was mean and as my mother aged, it got worse as we fought over responsibilities for her care, etc. I remember thinking at one point “when mom goes to be with the Lord, I can be RID of these two forever!” It was THAT bad!

BUT GOD!!! My mom went Home in February 2018. And I remember that night we were all together and as we were leaving I went to hug my older sister (the toughest of the two) and she was having none of it. What surprised me was that I went to hug her at all – only the Holy Spirit can make that happen!! But I didn’t give up – and what came out of my mouth that night (again, Holy Spirit) was something to the effect of “We will NOT let this destroy us further”. She remained cold (as did my younger sister) and distant throughout the process …. BUT GOD!!!

Two weeks later, my other sister (not one of the 2 previously mentioned) died unexpectedly. And through these double tragedies, the Lord worked in all of our hearts (especially mine, as I realized just how WRONG I had been in all instances – I had spent years blaming them, but became convicted of it being mostly MY DOING!) We have grown so close – we began reaching out to each other in reconciliation – and now have relationship. They are not saved – but I am sharing Jesus with them either in words or in deed. It’s a beautiful thing.

Our lives could have been further ruined – but we were able to get past it (BUT GOD).

    Have a blessed weekend everyone!

    1. Wow Mary! Thank you so much for your testimony this morning!! It has encouraged my heart so much! I have 2 brothers who will not speak to me because of my beliefs and it is a constant battle against satan to not get bitter. I want to remain in Christ’s unfailing love so that WHEN the day comes I am ready and willing with open arms offering reconciliation ?
