A Quick Word from Wendy
Living Curse Free
But if you refuse to listen to the LORD your God and do not obey all the commands and decrees I a giving you today, all curse will come and overwhelm you:…
Deuteronomy 28:15
My Takeaways
Something Old
What if I viewed obedience through the lens of the consequence of disobedience?
What is the possible outcome if I don’t obey?
Eventually, we obey because we love God too much not to obey.
Obeying Him cultivates trust. Love grows in trust. Trust never wants to disappoint.
Something New
- Christ was cursed, so we didn’t have to be.
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.) (NKJV) Galatians 3:13 - Christ made sure no ancestral sin could afflict us.
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law having become a curse for us. (ESV) Galatians 3:13. He took our punishment for sin and was cursed in our place. - Christ was the fulfillment of the whole Law.
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. (ESV) Matthew 5:17 - Christ made it possibly for everyone to be a new creation.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (ESV) 2 Corinthians 5:17 - Christ set us free.
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.(ESV) John 8:38
However, there will be a final curse
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.'” (ESV) Matthew 25:41
If Jesus broke the curse, how can we who believe in Him have a curse?
There aren’t generational curses because no curse can go through the cross.

We can live curse free because Jesus hung on a tree.
Something to Do
I’m free…Live like it.
The video isn’t coming up when I click on March 19th. I will check back later today but I want to share what God revealed to me this morning. I’m sorry my posts are so long. I sometimes feel like it’s burdensome for you all to read them but I really want to share what God reveals to me. I get so much from reading y’all’s comments each day, I am grateful for them and for Wendy’s videos. ❤️
He brought us to this place. 26:9
Bow to the ground in worship before him. 26:10
Afterward you may go and celebrate because of all the good things the Lord your God has given to you and your household. 26:11
And all the people will reply, Amen! 26:17
If you refuse to listen to the Lord and do not obey all his commands, the Lord himself will send on you curses for doing evil and abandoning the Lord. Chapter 28
The curses go on and on and on. One that really struck me was “You will have sons and daughters, but you will lose them, for they will be led away into captivity.” 28:41
That thought makes me shudder to think of losing my boy and girl to the enemy because of my disobedience.
After reading all these curses, I can see where I have been in rebellion to the Lord about some things, and in disobedience I have received some of these curses in my life. Especially in regards to gluttony, eating uncontrollably and constant overindulging, and turning to food instead of God. Food is the idol I’ve identified. Those choices are in direct opposition to God’s ways. I can see now why God had me go on this spiritual health journey. To teach me his ways and to turn my choices to obedience. Now because He is teaching me to make better choices regarding my health, my frustration, confusion, and inflammation, wasting diseases among other things are hopefully going away for good. I never want to live a cursed life due to my disobedience and evil doing.
God cares very much about the way we take care of our bodies and every choice we make about what we put into it, how I move or don’t move it and how I cherish it as my one and only temple. These warnings are serious. God takes rebellion and disobedience very seriously and that means so should I.
This prompted me to start my daily Gratitude/Joy journal again. It’s been on my heart but I haven’t yet done it. I would just write down 3 things each day that I was grateful for or that brought me Joy. I would do it right before bed. It really helped change my perspective and keep my heart humble and grateful.
I want to fear the glorious and awesome name of the Lord my God! 28:58
It’s all I want to do.
Don’t apologize for your posts! I, too, get so much from everyone’s comments – they help me apply what I have read, especially if that “nugget” eludes me. I am grateful for your transparency and ability to draw out the life-applications.
No need to apologize! Many times it helps me to write things out to clarify my own thinking and what you write may also help and encourage someone else.
I love your posts! I have so many questions about today’s reading but will post later as it was a long reading and left my notes at home as I had to rush out to work. I’m hoping Wendy’s teaching helps answer some of the questions
I love your post. Thank you for them.
I’m a day behind. I am committed to this study this year as I’ve never finished it. Started back to work at the Creation Museum yesterday and was exhausted. Just what the devil wanted but not quitting this study.
I missed you this morning.. no rush please.. I only want you to know I missed watching and enjoy your videos.
Have a great day!
I’m not seeing the video either. Will check back again later.
I learned a lot from the commentary article Wendy posted. I had believed generational curses were true and I have no idea why I believed that. I have been convicted to not believe every teaching I hear, I always have to take it back to God’s word. His word is the ultimate and final say. Scripture cannot be added to or taken away from. False teachings lead you away from the simplicity of Christ. I also have to make sure when I read God’s word to not read into something that is not there. I believe He corrected my thinking about experiencing some of his curses due to my obedience. According to the commentary, the curse, along with any consequences from it were finished and wiped away at the cross. I guess I need to focus more on understanding God’s Grace instead of getting overwhelmed with the curse parts. Fear is not winning today. ❤️
There aren’t generational curses because to curse can go through the cross! This is good!
I was super confused by so much of today’s reading. Thank you for this lesson Wendy.
For those of us not on Facebook – is there a way for us to receive the recording of the live?
I was wondering the same thing.
What I have found interesting is the “amen’s” in Deuteronomy 27:15-26. I have said amen many times due to a trained behavior without really knowing the true meaning, how could that be, a ritual preformed religiously. I want to be more mindful and God honoring in responding with “amen”!
“When Christians say “amen” at the end of our prayers, we are following the model of the apostles, asking God to “please let it be as we have prayed.” Remembering the connection between amen and the praise of obedience, all prayers should be prayed according to the will of God. Then when we say “amen,” we can be confident that God will respond “so be it” and grant our requests (John 14:13; 1 John 5:14).”
