We Are The Light

“Make a lampstand of pure, hammered gold. Make the entire lampstand and its decorations of one piece—the base, center stem, lamp cups, buds, and petals.”
Exodus 25:31

 

 

My Takeaways

Something Old

  • Our faith: the hammered gold
    These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold.  1 Peter 1:7
  • Our oneness with God: the stem and branches
    “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”  John 15:5
  • Our faith works: almond blossom, buds, and petals
    “When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.” John 15:8
  • Our witness: the continual light
    “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”  Matthew 5:14

Something New

I love that God had the people come together to build and provide for the Tabernacle. He could have done it, instead He had them sacrifice and have an investment in the Tent of Meeting.  (Exodus 25:9)

Something to Do

Light up the room… light up the world. Draw all men and women to Jesus.

  1. In the reading today I saw how God is in the details and that He cares for things to be beautiful and well made. He took the time to layout intricate designs that are precise and beautiful. He is the author of beauty. This was a good reminder to me of how creative He is and how He doesn’t leave me to flounder in figuring things out…he gives me a plan as I seek Him in His Word. Also in a few places He reminds them to follow his plans exactly…obey Him exactly in order to see the beauty and blessing of His plan.

  2. Thanks Wendy for today’s lesson!!!! I really enjoying reading the article learning more about the lampstand. It is funny because last night I was reading a devotional in the Upper room booklet that I have that I always get one from my Church and it was talking about how Jesus is the light of the world and we should be a light of the world too. My something to do- is to always be the light of the world for others to see Jesus, to be a light of the world where there is lots of darkness.
