Our Offering
So this was the dedication offering brought by the leaders of Israel at the time the altar was anointed: twelve silver platters, twelve silver basins, and twelve gold incense containers.
Numbers 7:84

Something to Do
Bring my offerings to God.
“An aroma pleasing to the Lord”. In my early years of reading scripture, I was excited to know God likes BBQ meat, the aroma went up to heaven.
The wisdom of my dad teaching me to prepare a chicken for supper was invaluable! We lived out on the little house on the prairie, at a very early age, it was my responsibility for capturing one of the young chickens. To some this would be gory but not to me. I placed the head of the chicken on the stump, with the axe chopped its head off, proceeded to process the chicken for supper.. Why would I share this; when I read about the animal sacrifice, I can relate, responsibility requires action and obedience.
Being obedient to my father creates relationship, the aroma pleased not only my father, it provided fellowship with family. Yummy fried chicken!
When the Hebrews sacrificed an animal, they had atonement (reconciliation) with God, which means they had relationship with God “every” time they sacrificed, exemplifying oneness, a pleasing aroma before the Lord. Without atonement there is no friendship with God!
God in His wisdom, forward thinking of His Son, prepared a path leading us to Jesus, HIS sacrifice, the perfect atonement, bringing us back into a permanent relationship with God. The pleasing aroma/sacrifice of His Son Jesus!
Thanks for sharing, ccoleman. Nice analogy in today’s cultural context.
“Responsibility requires action and obedience.”
Wow. This statement hit me today. It spoke to my heart. God requires me to take action and obey once He reveals something to me. Thank you for your insights in sharing.
~I had been wondering how God spoke to Moses in the Tabernacle, was it is visible presence or just His voice. Today’s reading answered that question. Numbers 7:89 “he heard the voice of the LORD speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the ark’s cover-the place of atonement.”
Happy Friday Everyone! I found two (actually more than 2) worship songs to piggy back on Wendy’s lesson!

Have a great weekend!
I did not know about the first 5 app, thanks for sharing that Wendy.
The tabernacle was no empty shrine but was the palace of the living God. The reading today emphasized the importance of sacrifice and ministry to the life of God’s people. The people of Israel were very generous in giving to the construction of the tabernacle and in today’s reading they showed the same generosity in its dedication. “Whenever Moses went into the Tabernacle to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the Ark’s cover-the place of atonement-that rest on the Ark of the Covenant. The Lord spoke to him from there.” (7:89) I can’t imagine hearing the very voice of God! God gave his mark of approval. Their gifts were received with pleasure. Like Moses I still have the privilege to talk to God today. Of course he speaks to me differently through His written word and the guidance of His Holy Spirit. If I want to receive His guidance I need to seek to know God as Moses did and willingly give my gifts to Him. I will pray that I am listening and obeying to what His words and Spirit tell me. Allowing me to surrender my whole life all the way over to His will and way.
I love Leah’s insights and the verses she noted. God was so specific in those verses she listed about what sacrifices we can offer that please him.
Hebrews 13:15 offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. I heard a song this past week and have been singing it in my head ever since and God brought the song to mind again after reading that verse.
“I Just Want To Worship” by Kristen Dimarco
This song truly is my heart. I truly want to just worship like the song says, it’s all I want to do. Will you fully inhabit this song I sing to you. And I just wanna worship, lift my hands to you fully present in this moment, fully given to you.
These beautiful words I sing from deep within my heart and spirit. More than words, more than a song, but offering my full devotion, allegiance and genuine love to my Father. I desire to give my body fully to God for ALL that he has done for me, to be a living and holy sacrifice.
