Let Yes Be Yes

Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Exodus 38:22

My Takeaways

Something Old

Do I do everything just as the LORD commands me?

Or

Do I offer a pause, cause, or clause?

  • Without pause: Yes, period. Immediate yes.
  • Without cause: Yes, with only your purpose in mind. Check my motives.
  • Without clause: Yes, without conditions.

Bargaining with God is not necessary on any level. He is completely trust worthy…trust Him. The more we obey the more we trust.

Something New

Something to Do

Just say, “Yes,” and nothing else.

  1. Exodus 39:30 captured my attention, the badge of Holiness, inscribed “HOLY TO THE LORD”. A badge is something that you wear, it represents “you”, makes a statement of who you are and who you represent. As a believer, we represent the Lord Jesus Christ, a badge of honor to honor Him, our badge of righteousness. Set apart, a character exemplifying holiness, behavior resembling sacredness and a lifestyle separate from the world. We are set apart by God for God’s plans and purposes!
Holiness only results from a right relationship with God by believing in Jesus Christ as Savior. If we neglect faith in God’s Son alone to save us from our sins, then our pursuit of holiness is in vain. Seeking Christ automatically sets us apart from the world (1 Peter 2:9 …..Him who called you out). Daily live a set-apart life, not trying to “blend in” with the world, but live according to God’s Word as we study His Word and mature spiritually.

  2. ~Following is my Something To Do that I wrote before watching Wendy on the video. We were obviously thinking along the same lines today. “Just as the LORD commanded Moses” is mentioned numerous times in today’s reading. (It is a phrase that I underline in my Bible too.) Obey, just as the Lord commands me. No compromise. No half-hearted obedience.
~My Something New: Did Bezalel and Oholiab learn their crafts in Egypt? Were these the type of jobs they had in Egypt?

  3. My something to do was much like Wendy’s….obey completely. Challenged me to evaluate my obedience. God is into the details and He wants full obedience. He cares about each detail of my life and he cares about the details of my obedience. When he asks something of me I need to fully obey knowing He sees and cares and can’t fully bless partial obedience.

  4. I sourced David Guzik this morning (Enduringword.com) because I wanted to dig deeper into the significance of bronze and, specifically, those mirrors that were donated by the women.

Here is what he said about Ex. 38:8: “It is wonderful to think that these women gave up their ability to measure their own physical beauty to make this reservoir for the water of ceremonial washing. By analogy, it may be said that some are so focused on looking at themselves that they fail to look at Jesus. It is always time to surrender such a mirror to Jesus.”

As I get older and the wrinkles get deeper, my flesh wants to fix them and hide them (I’ve discovered that YouTube is a black hole of how-to’s) but this verse convicts me to just stop, repent of vanity, and press into my Lord and Savior so that my beauty comes from Him, His Spirit dwelling in me, His love exuding from me. I’m giving up my mirror now and going to wash myself in some worship!: https://youtu.be/SE_M9noEhNE
