RTW February 10
The Oder Of Our Offering
Offer the other lamb in the evening, along with the same offerings of flour and wine as in the morning. It will be a pleasing aroma, a special gift presented to the Lord.
Exodus 29:41
My Takeaways
Something Old
Think of all the things I offer myself on a daily basis. What do I offer God?
Something New
- It is a gift.
Not something we give in exchange for something else. - The offering is twice daily.
Do I even offer God something once a day? - Making the offering might “stink” to us, but it’s pleasing to the Lord.
Giving is something hard, but it pleases God. Giving isn’t always about money. - Is it really an offering if it doesn’t cost us anything?
Maybe its praise in the middle of a storm. It’s obedience when you really want your own way. Perhaps it actual money to a person in need when you yourself are a person in need.
Romans 12:1
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. (ESV)
Something to Do
Please, God, smell up the world with my gifts.
~My Something New: Ex 29: 29-30 speaks of Aaron’s sacred garments being preserved for his descendants who will succeed him. They will then wear them for 7 days when they are anointed and ordained. I never noticed this preserving of Aaron’s garments before. It got me to thinking. What am I passing on to those who will come after me and serve in ways that I have served?
~I love the words in Ex 31.18b “written by the finger of God”.
Love your comment today Mary. It is a great compliment to Wendy’s lesson. Making offerings to God each day and passing something on to those who come after us, seem to go hand in hand.
I am ashamed to say, but This will be my first time ever reading through the Bible. I am so glad to have you Wendy to help me understand the word. Thank you so much!
Staceyhughes,
Never be ashamed…just shout, “hallellujah” that this is the first time. I was 59 years old the first time I read the Bible through with Wendy; I am now 69. Ten years later, I am starting up again with my 2nd RTW chronological Bible; I missed reading completely through 2 different times, but the Lord doesn’t keep count as we do!!! This is a wonderful place to share in God’s word with these ladies and Wendy. I do not comment very often, but I used to. I have 6 prayer sisters that started I started this journey with on RTW 10 years ago. We met each other through comments and just clicked!! We still stay very much in touch by text, emails, and sometimes a distant phone call. My “sissies” live in Ohio, Connecticut, Arizona, Minnesota, California, and I live in NC. One sissie who started us together by praying for our husbands and lost ones in family dropped out as she started into ministry as an associate pastor of a church in Tennessee. She drops in occasionally to say hello! I am the oldest of the crew!! God has given us the wonderful gift of fellowship in Him across the miles!!!
So, sweet gal, stick with it, and just give God the glory for all the great love He is going to bring your way through your obedience to Him!!!
Keep on keeping on, [ this was a saying from one of the commentors from years back]
Mema Jeanne
