RTW December 24

The Reason For My Letter

God’s Word lives in your hearts, and you have won your battle with the evil one.
1 John 2:14c

My Takeaways

Something Old

Who do I need to write and encourage?

Something New

Because:

  • Your sins have been forgiven through Jesus.
  • You know Christ who existed from the beginning.
  • You have won your battle with the evil one.
  • You know the Father.
  • You are strong.

The end is coming (the last hours)

  • Remain faithful to what you’ve been taught from the beginning.
  • The Holy Spirit teaches you everything you need to know.
  • Remain in fellowship with Christ.
  • Don’t shrink back from Him in shame.

Something to Do

Pray and ask God who I should send a letter of encouragement to.

  1. Great Reminder, thank you Wendy. I was thinking that so much got lost with all the app-ing and mailing…. I know how I used to be thrilled to receive a letter, kept it in a special place and read it over and over again. I also loved to write letters but yes, it took time. And nowadays I see myself often getting to busy with everyday life to really sit down and do more than sending an email or a whats app. This is also showing that I think about the person, there is nothing wrong with that. But I know that if I would put a little more effort in it and really sit down, I could even bring more joy by sending a letter. I could start off with my sisters, living in Canada. I used to write with them when they moved twenty years ago, but modern technology took over 😉 . This lesson encouraged me to be more intentional about things that really matter. I want to be of encouragement … and I love to do things that honour God… So I am going to give it a try…

  2. 1 John 1:5 is one of my favorite verses. “God is light and in him is no darkness at all.” I’ve been doing an advent study on light and Jesus coming as a light to the world. What hope there is in His light. Stay in His light and let it shine on any darkness in me and on those around me.

I’ve choosen love to be the word that I focus on in 2019. Loved seeing so many references to love in 1 John!
