Don’t Die On The Mountain

Again, I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights.
2 Timothy 2:23

My Takeaways

Something Old

Have you ever “died” on the mountain of rightness?

Something New

2 Timothy 4:13
Paul wanted some familiar comforts.  He wanted his coat, books, and papers.  I wonder what kind of papers.  I wonder what they said.

Something to Do

Stay off the mountain of my own rightness.

  1. A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people.
(2 Timothy 2:23-24) This is a truth I can use everyday both professionally and personally!

I also appreciated Paul’s charge to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:14-17. It can be a charge to us as well. Remain faithful to what we’ve been taught thru the scriptures. It has given us wisdom to receive salvation in Christ Jesus and can make us aware of what is right and wrong in our lives. And be sure to share the Good News!

  2. My Takeaways: Know what is True

Something Old: Well I’m just about ready to wrap up Paul’s last letter today. The end of his life is near. Paul has done a wonderful job in preparing others to share the Good News so it can be passed on in the generations to come.

Something New: “But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. You have been taught the holy scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the Salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” – 2 Timothy 14-17
Reading through the Word this year has helped me to reflect on the foundations of my faith found in the word. I realize I have a job to do. It’s my responsibility to share the gospel with my grandchildren. I am blessed to have the opportunity to lead the next generation in the right direction. When I read the word and share what I know I can be certain in its truths because it is God-breathed, inspired by non other then God himself. When I stay in the word on a regular basis it equips me to do good and strengthens my faith. I am prepared to do the work that Christ has designed me to do in this world.

Something To Do: Allow God to use me for His will. Make the most with the time that God has given me.
