Only A Few Miracles

And so He did only a few miracles there because of their unbelief.
Matthew 13:58

My Takeaways

Something Old

Jesus felt rejected because they did not believe, therefore was He unable to do all He wanted to among them.

Let’s ponder these two questions today:

  • Have I rejected God so that He is unable to do all He wants to do in and around me?
  • Am I harboring unbelief?

Something New

apistía (a piss tee a)

  • want of faith, unbelief: shown in withholding belief in the divine power, or in the power and promises of God, in the divine mission of Jesus
  • by opposition to the gospel
  • with the added notion of obstinacy – characterized by inflexible persistence or an unyielding attitude; inflexibly persisted in or carried out

Something to do

Don’t reject God. Invite Him back to places where’s He’s been rejected.

  1. What a convicting and challenging lesson, Wendy. Thank you for giving me things to ponder and analyze in my life and my walk with Christ.

  2. Matt 10:8 jumped out at me today. It says, “Give freely as you have received.” I was just challenged to give freely of all I’ve been given. I have been so blessed by God and others and yet i hold those things so tightly or hold my time so tightly that I know I’m missing some of the immeasurably more life god wants for me. Give freely!

I also was challenged by Matt 10:37-39. What are the people and/or things that I am living more than Jesus? Get with the lord and get those things confessed and put into proper priority.

  3. Wow ! I need to pray about this lesson..very convicting ! Thank you Wendy for your biblical teaching..it so ties in with Yes, No & Maybe book and the #320 life
    God has for us !

  4. My Takeaways: Work the Fields

Something Old: Matthew 9:37-38 “He said to his disciples, “The harvest is so great, but the workers are so few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send out more workers for his fields.” This reminded me again of the personal challenge I face daily in spreading the word. I can’t neglect the need for workers in God’s Kingdom. It’s up to me to represent Christ to others, to speak on His behalf, and to share what He has done for me (2 Corinthians 5:20). This passage definitely reminded me of the importance of “working in the field.” What I do today will determine if I’ll get to hear “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

Something New: Matthew 19:23 “…I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the son of man comes.” This passage really threw me for a loop today. This surely was not referring to Jesus’s Second Coming was it?
Maybe this is referring to what was going to take place at the cross. Anyone out there who can explain this to me? I also found it interesting that the 12 disciples where referred to as apostles today. Very appropriate since they were going out as Jesus’s Messengers, to spread the word. After reading Matthew chapter 10 I felt very blessed in knowing that I don’t need to fear death because Jesus will bring my soul through that event unharmed. What I need to fear is God who can destroy body and soul. God wants me to understand that as a Christian I should love him above all else. When that happens He will handle the rest.

Something To Do: Love the Lord with all my heart and soul and let my actions reveal this by working in the field.
