No Excuses

He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd.
Luke 19:3

My Takeaways

Something Old

  • What excuse do I offer for not seeing Jesus?
  • To what lengths will I go to see Jesus?
  • Will I inconvenience myself?

Something New

I identified with the grumbling workers, who worked all day, but got the same pay as those who only worked a few hours.

Something to Do

Do whatever it takes to see Jesus.

  1. It made my day to hear the Zaccheus song. Thank you for bringing back wonderful memories of my youth at Vacation Bible School.

  2. My Takeaways: Wonderful Mercy and Grace

Something Old: Blind: “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” – Mark 10:46-47 Bartimaeus was bold. He shouted so loud that the crowds asked him to be quiet, but Bartimaeus didn’t care. He didn’t let
pride, passivity, public opinion, and the lack of persistence prevent him from coming to Jesus. It’s a good thing Bartimaeus continued his shouting. Little did he know that he would have no other opportunity. This would be the last time Jesus passed through Jericho before His death. I don’t know when my time here on earth will be finished. There is lots of work to be done. I have to be bold like Bartimaeus and get the word out least anyone gets left behind and misses their chance from coming to Jesus and receiving life from Him.

    Something New: Matthew 20:1-16
The workers who labored all day, thought – “that’s not fair!” How true, but God’s grace is not “fair.”  But oh how thankful I am to God for this being so!  God’s grace is offered to all. It doesnt matter if I became a Christian early in life or on my deathbed. God’s grace is offered to anyone who finally repent and surrender to God.  God’s grace is given freely.  Just like the vineyard workers in this story (working different hours but receiving the same pay) people accept God’s grace at different points in their life. God’s grace is powerful, all encompassing, life giving, healing and saving. I’m so glad God is so full of generosity. No one deserves eternal life but due to God’s “unfair” grace I get so much more then what I have ever deserved. Instead of being jealous and resentful that many receive His grace living a ungodly life, but truely repenting just before taking their last breath. I need to rejoice in a Father that is always willing to take me in. Thank you Jesus for your wonderful grace!

Something To Do: Now is the time to reach out. Pray to be bold and share Jesus with family and friends that don’t know him yet. Thank God for his wonderful grace.
