RTW October 15

Discovering It

But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:41-42

My Takeaways

Something Old

Something New

Mary had discovered it; intimacy requires being still.

It’s easy to become so consumed with serving God, that we lose sight of the One we are serving.

Something to Do

Sit down, spend time with Jesus, and pause; so I know HIM.

  1. Luke 11:1-13 really stood out to me today. We’ve already read other passages about prayer and the Lord’s Prayer but today this struck my heart. I’ve fallen off regular prayer time. I had a good system with a notebook that I used daily to pray for requests and track praises. I gradual have stopped using that and stopped that prayer time. I pray throughout the day and as things come to mind but not like I used to. I was challenged by the words of Jesus to be persistent in prayer. I need to keep asking and praying–using his model for prayer but not just being repetitious. I’m gonna get back started today. I’ve grown in my walk with Him as I’ve been doing RTW but still have felt something missing…this is the missing thing! So grateful that He showed me that today using a familiar passage. He’s so good!

  2. I tend toward being a Martha – often too busy taking care of everyone and everything. RTW has helped me to slow down & take time in stillness with Jesus, to listen, to pray, to allow my spirit to be aware of God’s precious presence with me. Our world is so loud, so frenetic, with technology and noise and flashing lights permeating every moment. I think it would benefit everyone to take some time daily to just be still and see what God may have to say in the quiet moments.
Today’s reading was again filled with poignant lessons – Abraham and Jesus, the Good Samaritan, Mary & Martha, and more on prayer. I particularly love Luke 11:9-13….keep asking….seek and you shall find….your Heavenly Father will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. It is awesome knowing that the Holy Spirit lives in me!! What an amazing gift!❤️
