RTW September 16
Because Why?
This was because Ezra had determined to study and obey the Law of the LORD and to teach those decrees and regulations to the people of Israel.
Ezra 7:10
My Takeaways
Something Old
More fasting and praying. I’m sensing a pattern here.
Something New
What would happen if I determined to:
- Study the Law/Word of the Lord
- Obey the Law/Word of the Lord
- Teach the Law/Word of the Lord
What successes would I experience?
Something to Do
Study, obey, and teach the Word of the Lord, and watch what happens.
Great lesson Wendy… thank you!
Wendy,
I am so grateful for RTW and that I Fran decided that this year I was going to read the Bible and here it is September 17, and I feel like we just started yesterday! I bought this bible in 2009 in a attempt to read with you then as a gift to myself and I would start each year with such determination and give up when life didn’t go as planned not knowing that was when I needed to read and study even more! Thank God he gave me the courage and strength to persevere this year when yes my life was a mess and not going as plannned I still chose to read and it has blessed me and changed me. Some days I was more eager than others… but I did and now I need to put what I have learned into action and be determined to obey his word!
Thank you for this lesson. I needed to hear this!!
So glad you did!
My Takeaways: The Hand of God
Something Old: “Oh the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked or stand around with sinners or join in with mockers, but they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither and they prosper in all they do” (Psalms1:1-3) Does this not sound like a complete description of Ezra. What a man of God he was.
Something New: My focus today was on the man that was comm itted to study, follow, and teach God’s word, Ezra. Ezra is a great model in teaching me of how to live for God. Ezra was a wise man, and gave God all the glory because “the gracious hand of the Lord, his God was upon him.” (Ezra 7:6, 7:9, 7:28, 8:17-18) God honored Ezra because Ezra honored God. “Our God’s hand of protection is upon all who worship him, but his fierce anger rages against those who abandon him.” (Ezra 8:22).
Something To Do: Be an Ezra by studying God’s word, apply and obey the commands discovered in God’s word, and teach others God’s word and its application to life.
