Our Watchman

When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he sound the alarm to warn the people.  Then if those who hear the alarm refuse to take action, it is their own fault if they die.  They heard the alarm but ignored it so the responsibility is theirs.
Ezekiel 33:3-4

  1. Wendy, that was a beautiful lesson. Thank you so much for your honesty. It takes a lot of courage to be so honest and open, but OH the model of Christ Alive within you you are… thank you again!

  2. From one southern girl to another, I really loved this lesson!? But seriously, I am slowly learning to listen and pay more attention to the Holy Spirit within me. Those quiet nudges that guide me. It is truly miraculous and I’m oh so grateful!

  3. My Takeaways: The Watchmen in the Towers

Something Old: “If I announce that some wicked people are sure to die and you failed to tell them to change their ways, then they will die in their sins, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths. But if you warn them to repent and they don’t repent, they will die in their sins, but you will have saved yourself.” Ezekiel 33:8-9 Watchmen certainly did have a very important job. A lot rest on their shoulders. It was up to the Watchman to keep the people safe. While they were up in their towers they could not slack on their job. They had to be awake and alert at all times. In the beginning chapters of Ezekiel I remember that God had previously appointed Ezekiel to be a Watchman . He was to warn the nation of coming judgement . But in todays reading his job as Watchmen is to preach a message of Hope. He is to remind people of how God will remember to bless those who are faithful to him. Those who persist in rebelling against God needed to pay attention.
All Christians are Watchmen, including me . My failure to share the message of Jesus Christ is as wrong for me today as it was for Ezekiel to fail to give a report to the people, the messages God gave him. I cannot make anyone except the message of salvation but I must always be faithful in delivering it. I need to keep my brothers and sisters in Christ, and my family from falling away. I need to always be ready to let others know the reason for my hope. I need to be a watchman to the people that surround me and warn them of the coming judgement, but let them know of the hope I have through Jesus Christ. How will they know the truth if someone doesn’t share it, and that someone starts with me. I can’t forget what 1Peter 5:8 says “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” My job as watchman is to keep others away from the enemy. The only way I can be assured that the enemy stays away is by introducing them to Jesus Christ.

Something New: Reading the Bible from cover to cover chronologically has helped me to understand that the Bible records the good and bad in our human nature. Even though I have read a lot of bad throughout the Bible I realize God never condones the bad behaviors. It’s we humans who have a hard time tackling what God commands us to do for our own good. God is so much better to me than what I ever deserve. I am so worse off than what I think. God is the good guy. And I am only good through him. Todays reading really brought this back to light for me.

Something To Do: Become a watchman over others by my words and service to Gods Love and Power. Don’t be afraid to share the Good News. Remember God does not wish for any of us to perish, He wants us all to come to Him.
