The Purpose For Equipping

I am the LORD; there is no other God, I have equipped you for battle, though you don’t even know me.
Isaiah 45:5

My Takeaways

Something Old

For there is no other God. I love when God repeats Himself… so often I need it.

Something New

God announces the deliverer for His people from a coming captivity, 200 years before the man Cyrus is born.

Know is ya’da.

Oh, if He equipped a pagan king who did not know Him, imagine how much more He equips those that are committed to and experienced Him.

  • He equips us so we will know Him. (Isaiah 45:5)
  • He equips us so others with know Him. (Isaiah 45:6)
  • He equips us so that we will know who does things. (Isaiah 45:7) (Don’t take any credit.)

Something to Do

Don’t argue with my Potter. Let Him do His work.

  1. Loved the lesson today….and A GREAT BIG YES….a great reminder that God gets all the credit and glory!!

    Thank you Wendy!!

    1. Wendy that was the first thing I noted as well, how often God kept repeating Himself saying: I am the Lord; there is no other.
Something else that stood out to me was Isaiah 48:11, ” I will not let my reputation be tarnished and I will not share my glory with idols!” ~ I felt the Lord asking me what are my idols ( and they don’t have to be bad) reading Christian fiction that take away my time with Him, playing games on my Ipad, and sleeping in. I pray that I do NOT put these things before the Lord.( I know this is not the context of the scripture that is what I felt the Lord spoke to me)

  2. I am so thankful I serve a God that is real, listen to my prayers, watches the paths I walk on, speaks ever so softly through His creation! What a God and Savior!! We can ever trust in what He says and does in our lives. For the Lord is God!

  3. Ok girls, be honest now, how many of your minds were silently singing Brian Doerksen song, “Come, Now is the Time to Worship” as you read Isaiah 45:23. “One day every tongue will confess you are God.  One day every knee will bow.  Still the greatest treasure remains for those who choose you now!” I had to go to you tube to listen to it after today’s read.

My Takeaways: God is real and life with Him is best!

Something Old: Yes, God knew before Cyrus was born the plans He had for him. But is that surprising? Let me take a step back and reflect on what I have already read this year. God foretold what would happen to those who ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil-death. He spoke ahead of time that the Messiah would come through the seed of Eve and would crush the head of the seed of the serpent. He promised Abraham and Sarah a child, along came Isaac. Same with the Noah and the flood, he warned the people years before it actually happened. He said he would destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Sure enough it happened. Of course I could go on and on. From the very beginning of God’s story, He foretells of future events. It is very clear that prophecies come from God, the one and only who knows all to well the past, the present and the future. God promises are public and their fulfillment is sure.

Something New: Isaiah 48:10 ” I have refined you, but not as silver is refined. Rather, I have refined you in the furnace of suffering.” God’s going to test me, but I’m not going to complain, because I would not know what my capabilities were. I would have no need to grow. Without God’s refining I would not become more pure and more like him. When I face suffering, that’s when I can depend on God refining me. God rules over light and darkness, over good times and bad times. My life is sprinkled with both types of experiences, I need both in order to grow spiritually. When I face those dark, bad days I need to ask God what he is trying to teach me? What is it that I can learn from this refining experience to make me a better servant of God?

Something To Do: Don’t ever be ashamed to let everyone I know about my relationship with God. Tell of his promises, pray for boldness in my life to be able to share my faith in Christ with all the people I come in contact with. Be thankful that I have a God that loves and cares for me enough that he is willing to let me suffer in order for me to grow more like him.
