Have a great day and weekend RTW Friends:):)
S.A.P. and Hezekiah’s example of “spreading it out before the Lord” reminded me of the beautiful hymn What a Friend We Have in Jesus.
“What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and grief to bear
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer…”
The more I study God’s Word and pray, the more I find that my prayer is becoming an ongoing conversation with God. I no longer have just a “prayer time,” but rather a more continuous connection to the Holy within me. Now this doesn’t mean I always know exactly what God wants me to do, nor does it mean that I get all my prayers answered in the way I would like, but I am developing an awareness of staying connected to God. And even in the midst of complete chaos (which is often my life,) I can more easily tap into the gift of God’s presence and peace. I am grateful.
My Takeaways: Prayer and Faith
I am out at the lake for the weekend, so I’m not able to get enough internet service to pick up Wendy’s video 🙁
Something Old: He went up to the Temple and spread it out before the Lord and prayed. Hezekiah put his trust in the Lord and He delivered Jerusalem. His strength did not come from his own wisdom or abilities; it came from his trust in God. He came to God first and prayed to the Lord and BELIEVED that God would fight the battle for him. He did exactely what Isaiah had been calling the people to do. He returned to God. The Lord listens to the prayers of His children. In Jesus’ name I can do what Hezekiah did and know for certain that God cares for me when I ask in faith, believe and wait in humility.
Something New: 2 Chronicles 32:6-8
Such great and encouraging words! “Be strong and courageous! Don’t be afraid of the King of Assyria or his mighty army, for there is a power far greater on our side! He may have a great army, but they are just men. We have the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!” I have that same power today.
I have access to the same God as Hezekiah did, not because of my righteousness but because of the righteous life and sacrifice of Christ. Because His blood has made me clean, I am able to approach the throne of God with confidence, I can call upon His name, and cast my cares before Him.
Something To Do: Be persisted in prayers and faith. “Be anxious for nothing, but, in everything, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God will guard your heart and mind” (Philippians 4:6, 7)
Wendy I would love to know what resources you use when studying the scriptures. Thanks!
