My Requirements

No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what He requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8

My Takeaways

Something Old

  • To do what is right.
(Treat others the way you want to be treated.)
  • To love mercy.
(Love kindness, so much, that you show it.)
  • To walk humbly with your God.
(Stay close to God, and don’t think too highly of yourself.)

Something New

I never want the Lord to think I am tired of Him. Oh, this breaks my heart.

Something to Do

Do what the Lord requires.

  1. Love the simplicity!
    Something to do
Do what is right, love mercy and walk humbly with God.

  2. This lesson is, as always, Gods heavenly timing. I started reading a book on marriage, called “every woman’s marriage” from Shanon and Greg Elderidge. I am still happily married but felt that something was missing. Off course I didn’t think it was my fault, after all, I was doing all the good things with sobering up, getting more responsible etc, etc. . I was even feeling like I was being generous to just accept that this is what it is and you have to be content with what you have… oh my goodness! Was I on my high horse…. already when reading the first chapter I felt loved is ouch!!!! It explains a lot about how the dynamics work when one partner is not paying enough attention to what the other really needs. And it’s only natural that the other then, without even being aware of it, withdraws mentally and or emotionally and in the end also physically… it showed Chrystal clear where my part in the whole situation was and I was really so struck and couldn’t believe I didn’t see that before!!! God really spoke to my heart, he always does in the language I best understand: books. I felt so convinced and asked directly for forgiveness and a way way humbler attitude towards my husband and in general… this ties so much to today’s lesson: I have to do what is right, meaning in my marriage: treat my better half as I wish to be treated, I have to love mercy , not holding every thing against him that is not fitting me, and yes: walk humbly with God!!! When I do that, the rest will come from that…. I am full of hope again and so thankful that God keeps working on me and with me, step by step!!! Have a wonderful blessed day!!!

  3. Micah 6:8 is filled with wisdom and direction for our lives in one single verse! What if we weighed every decision and action against these 3 requirements?
    -Do what is right
    -Love mercy
    -Walk humbly with God
Wow, we would have a gentler, kinder world.
This verse brings back a special memory. Early in my teaching career, I was working at a Catholic school. The principal, sweet Sister Bernadette, placed this verse over all the teacher desks. It was right there as a simple, yet profound, reminder of how to treat children, families, coworkers, everyone. I haven’t thought about that in a while. Now that I am in a position of leading teachers in a church preschool, I think I will open the year with this verse. The Lord has told us what is good. Let’s remember the requirements and do our best to act on them everyday.

    1. Love your memory and how you are using it to make a difference to a new generation.

  4. My Taeaways: Pleasing God

Something Old: “No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what He requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
Micah 6:8 I absolutely loved this verse. The words are so easy and the truth is so profound. Not a very big and complicated list.  Do what is right.  Love mercy.  And walk humbly with God.  Following rules are OK but God wants my humble heart that simply does what is right.

    Something New: Isaiah 36
Sennacherib is quite the deceiver. He is a lot like Satin who tries to confuse and deceive me. Satin is always lurking around for his next victim. Trying to undermine my confidence and trust in the Lord with his lies. If I want to overcome Satin’s power I must be like Hezekiah and have complete dependence on God and then I can have the peace and confidence to live the life that is pleasing to God.

Something to Do: Don’t fall for Satin’s evil ways. Know what God says by reading my Bible and staying in the word.
