Even in Those Days

“Even the wilderness and desert will be glad in those days.”
Isaiah 35:1a

My Takeaways

Something Old

Even in those days there will be

  • Growth (Isaiah 35:1)
  • Abundance (Isaiah 35:1)
  • Singing and joy (Isaiah 35:2)

There He will

  • The weak will be strengthened (hands and knees)
  • Make the blind to see
  • Make the deaf to hear
  • Make the lame to leap
  • Make mute will to sing

Something New

A good read about the highway of holiness…

A “high-way”

  1. Thank you Wendy for reminding me that there can always be joy, beauty, growth and abundance in our wilderness-I just need to remember to ask God to show these to me.

  2. Thank you Wendy, that is really good to be aware of, no matter what my life looks like , even though at some days life is just plain overwhelming, there can be still singing and joy. I am going to stick this on a place that I can see it very well. I cannotbelieve i read over that, after you pointed it out I went back and it suddenly spoke to me differently! I also read about the highway to holiness and loved the reading!!

  3. I struggled with today’s reading as someone still relatively new in the Word. I loved this lesson though and the link about the Highway of Holiness. Thank you Wendy.

Good reminder for me that “the wasteland will rejoice and blossom with spring crocuses” (35:1(b)). Beautuful things come from the wasteland, the desert, the wilderness. So I will learn to sing in the sorrow and offer a sacrifice of praise!

  4. Wendy, I always love that you help us find a message of hope especially in the Old Testament, where it is sometimes hidden among the wars and violence. Some days life is just plain hard! All of us can use a message of hope!!

Also I love that Micah 5:1-6 prophesies the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem (seven hundred years before it happens if the note is correct!) “And he will be the source of peace.”
Our hope is found in Jesus Christ!

  5. My Takeaways: Prophesies Have Been Spoken

Something Old: Loved the read about the highway of holiness. All the redeemed get to walk the highway and travel home. God doesn’t point the way, He is the Way and leads the way all I have to do is follow while he walks along side me. John 14:1-4 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.”

Something New: I ejoyed reading chapters 2-4 in Micah today. Micah gave me a glimpse of the future. Knowing the future gives me time to get my life in order. It motivates me to live rightly and to follow Jesus, because he is the way, the truth and the life. God promises a time of peace and prosperity or judgment and punishment. His words are true. Both results are certain. I know the results I will choose. Thankfully not by my own strength but through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Something To Do: Repent, Believe and follow Jesus living according to His will.
