A Woman Of Influence

No one else so completely sold himself to what was evil in the LORD’s sight as Ahab did under the influence of his wife Jezebel.
1 Kings 21:25

My Takeaways

Something Old

How should we influence the men/people in our lives?

  • Incite: excite, motivate and encourage others in their walk with the Lord.
  • Allure: attract, draw, and hook others to dig deeper into the Word of God.
  • Instigate: promote, urge, and inflame in others a love for God and His Word.
  • Entice: attract, lure, and turn on others to a personal relationship with the Lord.

I am not sure how I am doing but the goal sounds good. How are you using your influence? Even if you are not a wife, you are woman and you “have ways. ” Let’s commit to use “our ways” in the right way.

Something New

Jezebel means impure, bold, vicious, and scheming woman.  I live up to my name or above my name.

Something to Do

Incite people for the Lord.

  1. 1st King’s 21:25 “No one else so completely sold himself to what was evil in the Lord’s sight as Ahab did under the influence of his wife Jezebel.” I want to be a woman of God, reflecting God’s light to my family, friends, and all people that I meet. As a wife, a mother, and an educator, I have the ability to influence others. I didn’t always understand this as a younger woman, but now I am aware of that awesome responsibility. I certainly don’t always get it right, but I am thankful that this awareness has been placed on my heart.
My other takeaway today was from 1st King’s 22:5 “Then Jehoshaphat added, ‘But first let’s find out what the Lotd says.’”
Sometimes I barge ahead in life before I ask God’s direction. Daily Bible reading has helped me to increase the times that I stop and “find out what the Lord says,” but, for me, it is still a work in progress!

    1. I loved your takeaways, so much truth in everything you wrote. Thanks for sharing your thoughts over our reading today.

  2. My Takeaways: Ahab and Jazebel, two of the most wicked leaders in Israel’s history

Something Old: Jezebal had great power. She was committed to herself and her false gods. Who I am committed to makes a huge difference in my life. Elijah was also committed, but he was totally committed to the one true God. Rejecting God always leads to disaster. I want to remember to be like Elijah and be committed to the one true God all the days of my life.

Something New: 1Kings 21:29 “Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has done this, I will not do what I promised during his lifetime. It will happen to his sons; I will destroy his dynasty.” When Ahab repented, God had mercy on him and did not judge Ahab’s house during Ahab’s lifetime. Even the most evil person on earth is not beyond God’s mercy. God gives grace to to the humble. The same Lord who was merciful to Ahab is merciful to me. No matter what I’ve done, it is never too late to humble myself and turn to God and ask for forgiveness and then remember to take the right action.

Something To Do: Thank God for the goodness and mercies of Christ
