But The LORD
But the LORD is in his holy Temple; the Lord still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely,
examining every person on earth. Psalm 11:4

Regardless of his current circumstances, David could be assured of two certainties:
- the LORD is in His Holy Temple
- the LORD still rules from Heaven.

Something to Do
Praise the LORD for “But the LORD“!
I’m overwhelmed with the troubles my daughter’s family is enduring from their two foster children, BUT I know the LORD is in his holy Temple; the Lord still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely,
examining every person on earth.
My 3 year old grandson has so much anxiety. His anger can get out of control and I worry about what he will become as he grows older, BUT I know the LORD is in his holy Temple; the Lord still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely,
examining every person on earth.
My Takeaways:The Bible tells about God’s dealings with David. David’s wonderful psalms tells of his spiritual formation.
Something Old: David’s life reveals that a joyful life isn’t a perfect life.
Something New: So much is revealed through these wonderful Psalms. I’m thinking hard on what one piece to pull out. Psalm 4:7 “You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvest of grain and new wine.” David knew the difference between joy and happiness. When he knew and trusted God he had that inward joy. It was steady as long as he continued to put his trust in God. It defeated any discouragement he encounter. Of course inward joy will last forever when one continues to trust in the Lord. But on the other hand David’s inward joy quickly turned to outward happiness and become short lived, and unpredictable when he was away from God. Joyfulness in life has little to do with happiness in life. Joy comes through knowing God in the process. Many “happy” people don’t live a joyful life, but all those who know the Lord Jesus, follow Him with passionate devotion, and live out His story enjoy the true joyful life.
Something To Do: Learn from what all these Psalms have taught me. Look at my problems in the light of God’s power. Give God all my obedience and heartfelt praise. Communicate with God daily through prayer and Bible reading. Become more tolerant with other people, but less tolerant of my own sins. Turn to God when problems arise. Thank God for not giving me what I deserve. Be honest with God. Give me childlike faith. Allow me to give God the proper respect that he deserves. Be a good steward of the things and people that God has entrusted to me. Trust God so I can experience his peace and know that he will never leave me regardless of what I may be facing. Remember God is everywhere all the time. When I call for help from God remember it’s to bring God glory and honor not to save myself from embarrassment. Don’t ignore the test and challenges that come my way. Use them as opportunities to grow. The life of David has taught me much. I must remember these lessons as I live my life.
