A Prayer For The Future Pope Family

“And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve Him with our whole heart and a willing mind.  For the LORD sees every heart and knows every plan and thought.  If you seek Him, you will find Him. But if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.”
1 Chronicles 28:9

My Takeaways

Something Old

Pray this for those who come behind me.

And, Wendy, learn to know [recognize, perceive, confess, discern, know by experience] the God of your ancestors intimately [closely, personally, as a warm friendship]. Worship Him and serve Him with your whole [all of the entirety] heart and a willing [prompted to action] mind. For the Lord see [seeks with care] every heart and knows [recognizes, perceive] every plan and thought. If you seek [seek with care] Him you will find [attain, secure, meet, encounter] Him.

Something New

If you seek Him, you find Him. But if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.”

Both of these proved true in the life of Solomon. When Solomon sought the LORD at Gibeon, he definitely found Him (1 Kings 3:1-15). When Solomon forsook God, he was in some sense cast . . . off  (1 Kings 11:1-13).

“Solomon’s response, typical of humanity, was inconsistent. Though he did seek God (2 Chronicles 1:5), it was not with a ‘whole heart’ and his divided devotion led ultimately to a divided kingdom.”  ~ Selman

  1. My Take Aways: Sound Advice

Something Old: 1 Chronicles 28:20 “Then David continued, be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see to it that all work related to the Temple of the Lord is finished correctly.” Face your fears. The great quest of this life is to know God and to fulfill His purposes. Everything else is vanity and chasing after the wind.

Something New: David gave Solomon great words of wisdom to guide his life. These same principals are great for all Christians to apply to their life.

Something To Do: Get to know God personally. Learn God’s commands and discover what he wants me to do. Worship God with whole hearted devotion. Serve God with a willing mind. Be faithful. Dont become discouraged.
