  1. My Takeaways: Knowing God and loving God allows me to grow in wisdom.

Something Old: Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” My mom had this verse framed in her kitchen for all the years I can ever remember. She still has it hanging above her sink in the King James version today. What a great verse to live by. What better person to take advice from then God himself. Live to accomplish his purpose and watch what happens.

Something New: Proverbs 4:23 “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” There’s a big difference between guarding your heart and following your heart. Guarding my heart is my responsibility. My heart has to be locked from the outside to prevent the bad stuff from escaping from my heart. I have to discipline my thoughts and words. My heart has to be locked from the inside too, to prevent entrance to the bad stuff thats all around me. Stuff happens daily that influences and poisons my heart. Because the heart is the wellspring of life, I can never afford to take a break from guarding what comes in and what goes out.
Guarding my heart is a full-time job, but the consequences of an unprotected heart are much more costly than the job of guarding it. If I guard my heart, what a future I will have.

Something To Do: Guard my heart. Live to accomplish God’s purposes for my life. Concentrate on the desires that will keep me on the right path. Put boundaries on my desires

    1. Thanks for your comments on guarding our hearts. This has been an important theme of late. It is my daily prayer for myself, but more immediately for my daughter and her two children. Tragically I am seeing some of the resulting sadness that comes from “unprotected hearts”. God does not give us these guidelines to harm us, but to protect us….from our own sinful and foolish choices. I LOVE your insight….it daily helps me and gives me much needed encouragement. I wish I had time/opportunity to respond to all of your posts for I find each one rich with profitable discernment! Please keep them coming. God is using them! He is using YOU to bless and edify.

      1. Thank you for your comments. I can’t take much credit for what I write. After I read the days scriptures, I read a lot of commentaries over those scriptures. I pool from what they write to what speaks most to my life.
